Enjoy Your Garden

There are two ways to enjoy your garden as a home improvement effort. A flowering border around your house adds a colorful frame around it while a lawn garden is an easy way to deal with a difficult lawn.

Either project is cost effective in terms of home improvement. Flowers always attract a buyer's eye. Even before you think about buyers though, your garden will give you years of beauty to enjoy.

A border garden is going to depend on two things before you start. The first is the amount of space you have for planting around your house. If you have a sidewalk bordering your house, you are going to have to fill it in with soil to a depth of at least two feet, unless you plan to plant roses or shrubs, then you will need it deeper. This will be an expensive endeavor. However, if you do not have an obstruction to bordering your house it is a fun and rewarding effort.

You can create the garden border using railroad ties, stones, or commercial borders. Choose your border according to your budget while paying attention to what will compliment your house. All flowers are going to compliment your home. Choose your flowers by colors that compliment each other and by their height. Taller flowers may obstruct your view.

Lawn gardens are terrific for breaking up a difficult lawn. In effect, you are growing a decoration. You can create a lawn garden in any shape, size, or terrain.

Decorator stones in either place provide excellent drainage and allow you to spend more time enjoying your garden and less time weeding it. The added benefit to stones is that they do not fade as wood chips do. Simply spread them over your garden for a nice contrast to your flowers.
